Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God; by loving God and carrying out His commands. This is love for God; to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome… Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

As I sit here in my quiet and safe apartment, with a gentle southern Californian wind flowing in through my window, I find myself meditating upon the scriptures I have listed above. I have been longing to love God more, and I know that He has been and is calling me to do so by advocating and networking for His children; the children of this world who have no one that will look out for them, encourage them, love them, and provide them security, stability, and love. I know though that it is God’s heart that we, all who are His, would have hearts and purposes to reach and impact the children of the world. Abogar International Ministries may be in its early stages, and is getting established as a nonprofit, but AbogarIM is all about loving His children as He would ask us to.
Loving His children is more than a feeling/emotion… Love, in an authentic form, is expressed through verifying action. As we love the orphaned child, street child, and youth at risk in Latin America it means more than a sentimental attachement or prayerful well-wishing on their behalf. Loving these children entails learning of their life situations, being involved in prayer support and financial support to help them have opportunity for stability and bright future, sharing the gospel with them, and if and when God leads visiting and spending time with them!
One of the ways that AbogarIM will be loving and impacting the lives of these children, will be by taking a trip to a not-yet-determined location in Latin America in 2013 for a two-week short term mission trip. We will be inviting a team of 6-10 people to join in this trip and will disclose more details in the near future. We are excited to be considering this option as a means of outreach and to love on these children.
I, Jesse, am also seeking speaking engagements to share of God’s heart for these children, and to let people know of the need that is so great throughout Latin America and the world for these children.
