Foundational Steps to Building for the Kingdom…

Is your radio blaring, t.v. yapping at you, cellphone ringing, ipad distracting, or facebook poking, twitter-pating, or one of the other million distractions we have created begging for your attention right now while you try reading my blog? We live in a day and age, at least in the industrialized, modernized, commercialized, technologically advanced societies that vie for the attention of the world, where excess, entertainment, and immediate gratification are at our fingertips and have become our expectations. My way right away! We are over-stimulated and under-motivated. Though its just my perspective, it seems we may have lost a lot of depth or base to much of anything in life anymore, because we bounce from one pleasure to the next; one distraction to the next.

As we are beginning (It has been less than 4 months since AbogarIM was birthed.) to establish this vision God is giving me to advocate for the orphaned children, street children, and youth at risk in Latin America through Abogar International Ministries, I am becoming all the more aware of the distractions that fight for my attention, and that keep other people from wanting to be involved. I also am very aware of the flip side of the coin, that some people would want to apply an unnecessary pressure upon me and Abogar to be having tangible results immediately. As I am prayerfully discerning, I sense God calling me to think about slow sturdy foundations.

Matthew 7:24-27:

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

I believe that God is calling for good stewardship over the foundation of AbogarIM, and for it to be housed on a rock. The rock is Jesus Christ of course. The foundation we will be setting is to have a great Board of Directors, taking care of lots of legal paperwork to get the nonprofit status legalized, learning Spanish, and networking with others who have similar passions and ministries to the beautiful children of Latin America. Though immediate gratification and results are the norm and expectation, I believe God is inviting people to join me and Abogar in prayerful meditation about how it can be most effective for God’s glory.

Serving as a missionary to get Abogar started, learning Spanish, getting ordained, and networking and growing the ministries of Abogar is a journey of walking by faith and not by sight. Establishing a slow but sure foundation requires a lot of time. We wont see tangible outcomes immediately. However, as a missionary I still need to raise prayer and financial support, and find committed Christians who also have a the vision, passion, and calling that Abogar has. Please prayerfully consider how you can contribute and be involved in helping establish a great foundation for Abogar to flourish upon! Prayers, finances, logistics, admin. etc. etc. All are needed! If you can commit to prayer or financial support, check out the Your Support tab on the main page! I hope you will be involved with the foundational steps to building up Abogar International Ministries, so that it may bear much fruit for the Kingdom of God! Thank you!
