Depending on where you are, it seems the winter season has started settling in. Christmas music in the supermarkets and coffee shops, in some places there is snow on the trees and roads, people have begun bundling up a bit more. With these changes comes a shift in mood for most as well. For many there becomes a festive and celebratory mood and atmosphere. It is the holiday season!
While we are now in a season of holiday celebration, I wanted to extend a gentle reminder to most, who this holiday season have family to share with and lots to celebrate. It is God’s gift to each of you that you have the families, happiness, hopes, and heights you may be experiencing. Please extend praise to God for these good and beautiful things in your lives.
Not having a family myself, God has extended me the grace to be mindful of the many who during this holiday season do not have family to share it with… who may not have a warm home to return to at the end of the day, nor have anyone with whom they feel they can give or receive love. There are an estimated ~640,000 homeless in the U.S. alone… and more than 10 million orphaned children throughout Latin America and more than 40 million street children there as well!
While we can not solve all of the problems of the world, we CAN be in prayer for those who this holiday season will experience the feeling of worthlessness in a world the is speeding by them without much thought. Each and every one of the homeless, orphaned, and street children has a desire within them to be valued, loved, and cared for. Please join me in seeking God’s heart this holiday season, and pray for these dear people. Lets ask God to use US to change their lives for His glory!
